WWI German Helmet

If it were me , I don't think I could pull the trigger based on these photos. Could well be a good one, but these photos don't scream one-looker to me. Good luck but proceed with caution

I bought another German lid from him and it was legit.
Also he is a member of USMF and I have developed a rapport with him.
If he tells me it looks legit (based on his experience with US helmets - paint, patina etc) I might be inclined to take a chance on it.
Anyone else on an offer price?

OK guys, here is an update.
The seller says:
The consensus I've had from two friends and myself is this. These helmets were used in to WWII, we don't think this helmet was painted during WWI but sometime interwar or WWII time frame.
He also is asking $400 for the helmet.
Here are more photos.
Any additional or changed thoughts?

Looks like pitting under the paint and someone's idea of an art piece of repro project. Like I said earlier, I had reservations. Not period camo paint or application or something worth pursuing IMO.

Looking closer with better pics, I see none of the 3 pins
showing on the inside - interesting to know how they
are attached - or if they've been soldered/welded,
and also what looks like flat/matt black paint
on the lines. Possibly touch-ups.

Because of this I'd be being generous at $300 or split
the difference at $350 now that the seller is saying
he thinks it's a post-war paint job - less again if
the pins are fudged on. I've seen shells where
camo is barely visible selling for $450.........

The whole post-war paint job doesn't fly with me.

It is either an authentic WWI camo or it is not. I don't buy that it is an inter-war or WWII job.

I really cannot tell much more from those photographs (at least not enough that would satisfy me).

FWIW - I noticed the pins as well, definitely glued or soldered in place and done before repro
paint job. Suffice to say, this is not a good one.

I know some folks don't like the idea of restoring.
If it were an all original paint job, and the pins
were ok - or even missing - I believe the
cost of a good camo shell might be
more like $600 or so.........

Walk away, for $400 its way too much and I am 100% with JB, its a postwar paint job (post WW1). Not worthwhile.
