Default Unmarked Private Purchase German Trench Knife.

    Greetings all,

This month, a 142mm bladed private purchase German trench knife. There are no markings of any kind on this knife. There was a wide variety of knives, which were available for purchase during the First World War that it is still quite common to find oddball variants such as this one. Unfortunately, I have not come across any period images of soldiers with this style knife, so none accompany this post.

    Merry Collecting!

    Regards,

    Lance

    Greetings all,

I just wished to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, a Happy Hanukah, and here's too, to a great new year of militaria collecting for all. Additionally, thank you, to our forum's moderators as without their tireless efforts we would not possess such a fine forum!

    Cheers,

    Default Ern-Rasiermesserfabrik German Trench Knife.

    Greetings Joel,

Here is my С.Friedrich Ern, Ern-Rasiermesserfabrik example, with a 145mm blade. I’ve discussed this variant before on post #72 when a friend (Marc) posted his example on post #71. Joel, yours is in nicer condition than mine, color me jealous.

Unfortunately, I've no new photos of this one being worn. And as an aside, the ERN advertisement comes from a 1922 catalogue.

    Cheers,

    Lance

    Default Happy New Year’s everyone!

    Greetings all,

The author Christian Méry is reediting/improving his book French Military Knives and Bayonets. As part of his research he is interested in obtaining contemporary images of French Soldiers sporting blades and images of French knives themselves for inclusion in his updated work. If you have something in that vein, he may be reached here christianmery@wanadoo.fr. I possess no affiliation with Mr. Christian Méry, yet I remain a devoted “fan” of his most excellent collector focused books.

Now, I’d like to wish all my fellow collectors another fine year of militaria collecting.

    Happy Collecting, all!

    Lance,

I thank you your comments. I love the grouping you have with the ERN advertisement. Well Done!
