    Can anyone tell me anything about this, I've never seen one before.
    Supposedly there are no makers marks on it at all & it's just something I've never come in contact with before.

    I don't think it is German issue.

    I remember seeing these discussed on another forum. IIRC they were thought to be Spanish or Brazilian.

    I will try to do some more research tomorrow.

    The cross hatching on the grips is typical of some Spanish weapons.

    EDIT ! Just remembered where I had seen this before - on a german language edged weapons forum - this is described as a Brazilian 1908 Artillery Sidearm

    It is reminiscent of the German made 1909 Argentine Artillery
    short sword used into the Falklands war, but I think Richie
    above is correct - it's quite possibly Brazillian.

    There should be a small ' F I ' marked on
    the crossguard somewhere.........
