WWI Iron Cross from vet grouping...Opinions??

Article about: Hey Guys I purchased a huge WWI US vet grouping to a vet that fought during the war and this Iron Cross was in the grouping. I know nothing about them and this is the first in my collection.

    Hey Guys I purchased a huge WWI US vet grouping to a vet that fought during the war and this Iron Cross was in the grouping. I know nothing about them and this is the first in my collection. I take it is a good one....what can you guys tell me about it??

    Your photos are not clear enough to see the maker's mark. What is stamped on the ring?

    Looks like a 'KO' marked cross. I've never seen one
    '800' marked on the frame.........!

    Steve I take the 800 is silver correct?? Just an FYI the vet who brought it to the US was a member of the LOST BATTALION durring WWI and is a very neat grouping. He was a was also a WWII vet and retired in 1948 as a colonel

    Yes, 800 is a silver content marking.........

    Nice original cross and as mentioned, it is unusual to see the
    silver stamp on the frame instead of on the ring.

    As Greg states a fine cross with great markings, not your usual EK !

    I would love to see the complete grouping. What was his name ?
