    Hello friends,

here I want to present you three photos of the younger brother of my grandfather. I'm sorry that I don't have more pictures of him. These are the only three ones my grandfather put in his photobook.

I don't know anything about him except that he was a pilot in WW and was killed in action. Perhaps my father knows more about him. I will ask my father when he's back from holidays.

I publish all photos without a copyright imprint, but the copyright to all photos belong to my father MD. Dr. Heinrich König as the first still living familiy member.

None of the photos is commented on the back, so I don't know where they've been taken. If someone can tell anything about a photo please feel free to leave a comment.

I hope you like these photos too.

    Cheers, Martin

I think it says he was in Jagstaffel 31. It was created in Breslau. Seems to have been a Prussian Unit (but might've started out as a Bravarian unit). Seems to have been attached to the 3rd Armee. It was sent to Italy on 11th of September, 1917. So the grave above is most likely in France somewhere around Rhiems.

That would make him a fighterpilot if it were accurate. Died on September 3rd, 1917 does not neccessarily mean he was shot down or crashed that day. Could have lingered. The only aircraft they are known to have used is the Albatross DV.

    Very interesting pictures.
I can see where one would find being a fighter pilot exciting but in truth,
the average life expectancy of a pilot in ww1 was only about a month.
