    Nice Stewy!
    I have only a couple of bronze grade Infanterie Sturmabzeichen's
    Ralph.
    Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)

    Fischer, old mate. What's you take on the variant catch plate? Could it be the more usual rectangular type trimmed down? The width of it looks different from yours though. Stewy

    My opinion on the plate is it's most likely an afterthought to ease with the attachment of the catch. I also considered these examples with this catch variation the earliest of the hollow zinc examples.

    As you know the tombak examples directly soldered the round wire catch to the hollow reverse.
    With the transition to zinc as a base material, they must have experienced some problems with this type of connection.
    With a plate it allows for a larger coupling area.

    In regards to the plate size, trimmed down, etc. I think the difference we see here between the two badges is just random variation.

    Hi Stewy,
