    Hi Guys

I thought I would share a recent addition of mine, a F&BL unmarked smooth crimp in bronze grade.

These can be tough to find due to the crimping method did not hold up very well

Here it is along with my silver example.

    Best Regards, fischer

Thank you for sharing this one Don. F&B's interpretation of the design is one of the better ones IMO.

Thanks Adrian...Here is the second part of the story.

As stated, the crimping method for the hinge did not hold up well and must have had numerous complaints.
Being a most frugal Lüdenscheid firm, F&BL continued using the reverse crimped in design but actually sanded down the raised stamped material used to crimp in the hinge and in the recess, went back to the direct solder method for the hinge. Here are my silver and bronze grade examples with the "upgrade" hinge attachment. You can see the finish was applied after the sanding, definitely a factory application.

Oh...one last item, you can see that they decided to keep the catch crimping method.

Great examples and great information to go with them showing the evolution of the manufacturing process. Thank you for posting.

Nice bronze F&B Fischer. These are a bugger to find, especially in that condition. F&B arn't the best design, but they weren't a prevalent maker of ISA's IMO. Even there most basic late war zinc awards are becoming hard to find. Nice catch mate. Stewy
