Infanterie Sturmabzeichen.

I bought this a while ago, year or two after I started collecting. One Thing that really throws me off is the hing.
I saw a ww2 dealer site with the same hing, but that is the only one like that I have seen.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me little bit about the hing and weather the badge is real or not.

there is little makers mark which i am concerned about it says L/13

I believe this badge is a fake. Meybauer (L/13) didn't make an Infanteriesturmabzeichen to my knowledge. Looking at the balls on the eagle's feet I'm thinking it is a Floch fake.

Ya that anther detailed I noticed after I bought it. What about the hing tho? I will need to get a good reference book for assume badges, so I don't need to ask you guys these questions. Thanks for the comments so far, can I please have another good opoin on this?

Similar hinges can be found on original badges.

that good then my hing problem over. now i need find more out about the manufacture and the balled tows.

Hello Franz

This one is indeed a fake. This one has a combination of original and fantasy traits.

1. The obverse looks to be copied from the MK in Triangle. (see my original to compare)

2. The hinge looks like it was copied from the Wiedmann "lily pad" hinge so called by collectors due to it's shape.

3. Adrian is correct, Maybauer or L/13 did not make Infanterie Sturmabzeichen's. The only LDO mm Infanterie Sturmabzeichen's are the following;

L/10 - Deschler
L/14 - F. Orth
L/18 - BH Mayer
L/51 - Wiedmann
L/53 - Hymmen
L/56 - Funcke & Bruninghaus
L/61 - Friedrich Linden FLL

Ahh, OK thank you very much. This is the last one i had doubts about. When I looked at a list today of known manufacuters of this badge, I then new mine was a fake.
