Hello,
is this Assmann a good piece? I've got it as present for christmas from my girlfriend. I have only the pictures from the net. IMO it is a good piece, but I know that Assmann had been pretty often faked.

It's a Hermann Aurich not an Assmann. Stewy
I'm not keen on this one though, sorry. Stewy
Correct - The Assman "A" logo takes the form of a
compass. This is Aurich's sideways H over A.
I can not comment on originality.........

Steve.
Sorry, I meant aurich, not assman. 01:00 PM is too late for my mind. :-)
For me it looks ok, eventually a bit repainted. Any other opinions?
I don't recall seeing an Aurich with a second ring around the hinge pressing/ fastening. Stewy
Infantry Hermann Aurich
In this thread i found the following picture, which is showing the same 2nd ring.
'I do not think we can hope for any better thing now.
We shall stick it out to the end, but we are getting weaker of course, and the end cannot be far.
It seems a pity, but I do not think I can write more. R. SCOTT.
Last Entry - For God's sake look after our people.'
In memory of Capt. Robert Falcon Scott, Edward Wilson, Henry Bowers, Lawrence Oates and Edgar Evans. South Pole Expedition, 30th March 1912.
Ned, do you think that both sides of the bayonet are a die flaw? Hinge looks a little off, as in lopsided to me. I hope it's just me being paranoid & it's fine. But Aurich made high quality awards, as a rule. If I'm wrong I hold my hands up. Stewy
