    Hey guys,

I wanted to see if I could get an opinion on this infantry badge I picked up awhile back at a militaria auction. Being a rookie collector, I'm still learning the ropes (thanks to this forum) but I know i've made a few mistake purchases in the past. At the time, I thought this was a Vienna unmarked badge but now I have my doubts. The hardware alone gives me concerns since I don't see that kind of hinge/tapered pin very often on this kind of badge. Also, I wasn't sure about the look of the eagle. The details on the front are rather good but its hard to tell from my bad camera. I still like the badge but I wanted to see if this could be original or should I continue to use this as a paper weight ..

    Hi Mike,
I've never seen reverse hardware like this on an original badge and it looks like a cast fake.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....

I sorta figured that but I figured I'd at least check. Rookie mistakes always hurt but at least it didn't hurt much in the wallet. Thanks so much .

Heck I make them all the time, still, but will agree with Adrian, replica.

Mike, it's always best to post before you purchase. It saves you money and problems trying to get it back!

Indeed a fake with an interesting hardware set-up. Stewy

I agree with the others, it is a fake.

The obverse is pretty close to an FLL or Friedrich Linden with some small incorrect details.
As my Mate Stewy states, it has an interesting hardware set-up.

    Best Regards, fischer
