I will go out on a limb and say this one is likely a copy..
The pin appears incorrect as well as the space in the hinge does not fit the pin.
The catch is not like any one I am familiar with, all of the ones that I am aware of have a round wire hook with a round catch plate.
A better more straight on photo of the eagle would help.
I will post a couple of photos of my bronze example to show.
Ralph.
Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
Thanks Ralph. The detail on the front looks really nice, but the catch is what made me curious, and I couldn't find any images of a similar one.
Fake or post war. It's not a wartime Souval. Stewy
Cheers all, another bit of info to add to my notes
Hello
I agree with the others...this one is a fake
It is a copy of the large font maker marked RS Rudolf Souval.
These are currently available on reenactor sites.
Here is another one from my files.
Best Regards, fischer
Also, here is an original large font RS Souval I have to compare.
Best regards, fischer
