    Hi Ralph,

congrats on your new SHuCo Infanterie Sturmabzeichen! Exactly this example I had in my collection some time ago and it is a bronze grade with the typically faded observe (most of the 5 vein SHuCo IABs in bronze are found with a faded finish). The dark colour on the reverse is the rest of the bronze finish.

    Best regards
    Sven
    Hello Sven,
    Thank you for the information.
A little disappointing as I was led to believe it was a silver version but, not so much.
I have a few other bronze grade Infanterie Sturmabzeichen's in my collection already that will go nicely with this one.
I will just have to ask Adrian to change the title of the thread.
    Ralph.

    Hi Ralph

Congrats my friend, a very nice ShuCo mm (5) vein variant...

I also agree with Sven; your new example is a bronze grade. These ShuCo (5) vein examples received a bronze wash type of finish and as Sven states, most encountered have faded to a grayish hue.

In 2009 a horde of these bronze grade examples were found along with unmarked steel (5) vein ShuCo Design Infanterie Sturmabzeichen's, FLL 43 marked Panzerkampf Abzeichen's and F&B unmarked Coastal Artillery Badges.

The ShuCo Family of Infanterie Sturmabzeichen's is a bit of a challenge to complete...You are off to a good start.

    Cheers on your new addition!

    Best regards, fischer
    Thank you fischer!
So, are you saying that a horde of these were found with some examples like the steel one that I posted recently?
I am not sure if I am up to trying to complete the line of ShuCo's as I am aware that there are a few and I do believe that some of them are a little difficult to find.

    Hi Ralph

Yes, there was a horde find in 2009 and part of the discovery included (5) vein "ShuCo Design" hollow steel Infanterie Sturmabzeichen's.

Because of this horde find, I have theorized these hollow steel examples could be a later war produced variant.
I think most have the opinion the hollow steel ShuCo Design examples were produced early on due to the hollow stamping and the base steel material.

Being found with what I consider later war produced badges; FLL 43 Panzer Assault, Forster & Barth CAB and the bronze solid (5) vein mm ShuCo's raises the question "were these steel hollows produced during the same time period as these other badges"?

    Hi Ralph

The ShuCo and ShuCo Design family of IAB's consist of 17 different known examples with variation in the obverse design and/or hardware set up.

This 17 does not include Silver or Bronze grade differences...If hunting for both silver and bronze type of finishes, the number of examples increases substantially.

    Thanks for the info fischer!
If I calculate correctly, it would about double!
