Two IAB's today. Nothing special but the price was fair.

First up is a silver Zinc late war award that is slightly convex. Has crimped reverse hardware and is unmarked.

Around 35% of silver wash on obverse remaining. All silver wash on reverse remains.

In my studies it looks like a Vienna design Varient 2.09 from an unknown maker given the reverse hardware and the angled butt plate of rifle on reverse which is a prominent variation of this type badge.

    Let me know your thoughts

This variant is nice and heavy. Great feel to it.

    Hi Michael

This one is still considered an unknown maker referred to by collectors as the Pillow Crimp ISA.

As you have stated, the obverse pattern is very similar to several of the known makers from the Vienna area.

With the frequency with which this variant is encountered, production must have been abundant...albeit, the bronze examples are difficult to track down.

    Best regards, fischer
