This is certainly an interesting one Willem.
I don’t think it is an aged fake but he has had some work done. There is a massive amount of zinc pest that has been cleaned up both front and rear and imo that is the reason for the discolouration
If you take a look at the legs of your example there is little evidence of any scales. Now if the badge had the waffle crimp it would be believable.
It’s certainly a first for me
