Just picked up this broken old girl.
Damaged but an original piece of Kriegsmarine history and at an extremely low price.
I will certainly find a nice place for her in my collection

Nice original piece with the cut out swastika. A real shame about the damage though but if the price was right..........!
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
Even with the wing broken, a piece I'd be more than happy with in my collection.

Thanks guys, yes a later type badge.
A bit of info:
The early type was designed by Wilhelm E Peekhaus of Berlin showing an early type of E Boat.
It was redesigned by Kapt zur See Rudolf Petersen ( C-in-C S Boats) during January 1943 to show a more modern boat. The second type badge being slightly larger.

I personally prefer the second version over the first one. Just looks too stubby to me. Don't get me wrong, I'd have both in my collection in a heart beat.

I agree with you. The first pattern has a boat that looks like it's going down by the stern!

And it just looks slow, not like this one which has a look of speed about it, if you understand my meaning.

Agreed ! He certainly captured its potency on the second design

I often think they missed a trick with the U-Boot badge. I know it was a follow on from the Imperial design but imagine what an impressive badge Herr Peekhaus could've designed for that one!

For sure ! I can imagine it coming in from an angle cutting through the wreath, conning tower standing proud above the bow, fountains of waves crashing....
