Are these medals real or fake aged repro's?

Article about: I agree with the others, the Souval is a good wartime ground dug example. The remaining hardware; oblong catch plate and flat wire stock is correct for this example. Best Regards, fischer

Got two items from an estate sale along with a ww2 jacket dated 1944. Anyway wondering if they were real, the daughter had $10 each on them so figured it was worth a shot. Not sure if they were found in the dirt or if theyre fakes made to look old.
Sorry after I took the picks I realized I should have put some gloves on! They went right back into safe keeping as soon as I was done. After all theyve been through better now then never!
    Thanks All

The Heer cap eagle appears to be an unfinished original.

    Cheers, Ade.

The infantry assault badge is a rough cast copy of a Rudolph Souval badge .... like someone was experimenting with lead in art class..

Looks like a zinc badge which has been varnished to me?

Two nice original ground dug items IMO. It does look like the IAB has been varnished.
Particularly like the unfinished cap badge, not seen one before.

I think Adrian is correct. The badge looks like a corroded zinc ground dug item that has been coated to make it presentable.

Mpw, not so much presentable IMO as trying to protect it. I have come across many items from older collections that have been varnished in an attempt to keep the zinc pest at bay..

I would also agree the Infanterie Sturmabzeichen is an original ground dug piece which has had a coat of 'preserving' varnish.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to copy the technique though.

Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
