    Default Soviet Flag Pole Top

Acquired both of these in Germany. The first came directly from a German veteran's estate, the second from a German militaria show and was probably also brought back as a souvenir.

There's a book on the Soviet Army symbols in WW2 with the fiirst one shown in a photo illustration in the background. Perhaps someone will recognize it and post a pic and give more info about it.

The second one is interesting because long screw inside the nozzle as an attachment method.

    Hello pjm:
Very nice pole tops, IMO they were used on competition award
banners, but were phased out as the star points tended to snag
the flag cloth when on display outside, thus the more common
    smooth teardrop pole top design.

Here's the illustration of the top one I refered to.

The points of the star would definitely shred a fllag. Particularly the second top above has sharp edges.

    Thanks for the input!
