Article about: What are your opinions on this 101st pre WWII felt patch. I am only about 50% on it, and I have not been able to review it in hand yet. I will post better pictures later if needed. Is there

I would agree I would like to compare it to any know originals if there are any and black light it before I rule this one out.

    Yes it is...
An aside, The 101st Infantry division was formed in November of 1918 and then set as a reserve unit in 1921. Then on August 15th in 1942 it was disbanded as an infantry unit and reconstituted as the 101st AB division.
The patch style in debate was used by the 101st from 1918-1942. By the 1940s it had a standard produced patch that was not on felt.

    update...
Just found this repro that has a similar appearance but is definatley different.

Quite similar weave but you can never be sure with these ww1 patches

That is exactly what I thought, but some of them are very rudimentary in construction so I would wait to rule it out. The reproduction might have copied a similar original possibly explaining the similarities. All of these are indecisive and a period piece to compare these to would really reveal some answers... As well as a black light might kill it as soon as I get it.

It smells of dust but not as easy to tell by smell as web gear. Not sure what to think it passed the burn test and the only black light I have is a bulb which I do not think is the same? here are more pictures.
