    Gday all,
Posting today a set of Australian Instructional Corps (AIC) insignia.
These were worn by Warrant Officer trainers who were responsible for the training of the Militia Battalions and Regiments (Citizen Military Forces) from 1921 to 1942 and the Volunteer Defence Force (VDF) from 1942 to 1945 as well as the 2nd AIF post 1939.
The AIC ran qualification courses for militia and AIF officers and NCOs at specialist schools across the country.

Many of the instructors were commissioned as Officers or were employed as senior NCO's in these war time formations.

These enamelled insignia were worn from 1930 until 1942 until replaced with a more subdued style based upon the standard "Rising Sun" insignia.

The AIC reached its peak in 1942 with 234 quartermasters and 889 warrant officers so both types of these insignia can be quite hard to come by esp. at a reasonable price.
The corps was disbanded in 1955 as specialised schools were established to cater for the new Regular Army.

Will post some more Australian insignia at a later date if anyone is interested.
    All the best
    Dave

Thanks Rene I think their pretty cool myself.
I feel I was lucky to get a complete set as you tend to see only singles up for grabs and mostly collar insignia.
You would think only a few thousand sets of the enamelled versions were ever issued.
I posted them because they will be off to the GeorgeTown RSL museum for display soon.
    Cheers mate

"O" god yes Rene, only on loan cobber.
Have a heap of insignia, a few lids, one virtually complete pre 43 WW2 Service Uniform with 37 pattern webbing and kit (you know the one), KH drill Militia tunic and my Officers Tunic on loan at present. A post 43 Service Uniform with webbing less boots and general kit (except bayo and water bottle) will be heading down soon also.
I am attempting to convince the members that a TR display would be a good concept as the RSL is financially in a tad of bother (like most regional RSL's sadly) and it may get a few bums through the door. But the usual barriers are present with regards to offending someone. A bit narrow minded for a militaria museum I feel considering there's a WW2 Japanese Officers sword on display and items from other nations we have fought since federation. It's all military history to me regardless of where it come's from.
I will have to get onto the board I think.

    Cheers mate
