Default British Cap badges - Newbie needs assistance!

    Hello all,

Been lurking for a little while and simply cannot believe some of the things that can be dug out of the ground after all these years! Anyway, an older friend of mine found this lot by metal detector, in various places round the UK in the 70s and 80s. He's not a "silver surfer" and so he's asked me to try and identify these badges prior to sale - can anyone help???

    1. George VI era Corps of Military Police cap badge.
    2. Royal Warwickshire Regiment
    3. ??
    4. Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME)
    5. Royal Army Ordnance Corps (RAOC)
    6. Royal Fusiliers cap badge
    7. ??
    8. Royal Artillery
    9. Duke of Cornwall's Light Infantry shoulder title
    10. Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders
    11. An RAF cap badge, obviously. I think the crown indicated pre Elizabeth II?
    12. A belt buckle?

Any assistance you can give to identification or values will be much appreciated...or indeed if you want to buy them?

    Cheers
    Steve

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum!

I have added a few id's to your post for you.

You are correct in your ID's so far.

No3 will be some kind of trademan's badge, I think? But not one I actually recognise.
No7 will be one of the various Light Infantry Regt cap badges.

    Cheers, Ade.

    Thanks for the update Ade,

Do you happen to have any idea on values - as mentioned my friend is looking to sell - he has mentioned figures of around £40 for the lot - is this reasonable?

Thanks for the updates everyone, AIF - you have a PM!

Where in your opinion guys, would be a good place to dispose of them - ebay perhaps, or am I more likely to get a better price on say, the For Sale section on the forum?

    Steve

You are probably better off posting them in the For Sales section on here, because by the time that you have paid out all your costs etc with eBay you will be lucky to clear much return.
Average cost for each of them is anything from £5GBP to about £10GBP but not too sure of the RPC collar dogs.

BTW, the belt buckle is the old British Army General Service buckle.

Hope this is of some help

    Regards etc
