Can ANYBODY ID this badge?

Article about: I THINK this is a US Sheriff's badge that is worn as a tie slide in the West, but not certain. The back has that type of device, if you can see it from the scan. Any ideas? Thanks.

If nobody can ID the Sheriff's star, how about this French Pin? It is made by Drago in Paris, and even has a model # on it! That number is: G 1555 Anybody have any ideas what it is? Thanks

The second is the French 7 th artillery regiment... as it says on the insigna.
I do not know how old it is, I can only tell you they still used that insigna when I was a soldier.

Thanks for the info about the 7th Artillery pin. I guess the Sheriff's badge is too obscure. Bummer. By the way, I remembered the tie it goes to is called a "bolo tie"
