Early ATS Officers rank insignia

I have heard of this from "The Times" of Sept 30th 1939 but never seen an image.

What do you think, is this used by the early ATS possibly other services too?

I don't know. But the pattern of the wreath is certainly very similar to the cap badge.

If it is early ATS we are looking at a very narrow time frame of just 6 months and that is the problem.

The person who sold it to me on ebay years ago say it is ATS officer that predated the coronet. If it is only 6 months that is rare indeed.

I think the description suppose to mean a Chief Commandant is equivelent to a Major General. Correction I meant Lt Colonel
