Help with cap badge

Article about: I have a box of things from my Dad's US Army service in WW2. One appears to be a British Cap badge. My husband says they are crossed machine guns. Also, is the little RAF item a matchbox cov

    I would imagine that this was very important. Keeping the matches dry, and unbroken for smoking was a big deal in both wars. Look at all the trench art that was made exactly or this...keeping the matches dry and safe...so of course the RAF, the aristocracy of the air, would have something really splashy like this
