    Agreed. Judging by the missing pins, the way it was cast, and the lettering style, it appears to be a very early piece. Possibly late 18th century to mid 19th century. Very interesting for sure!

    See what you mean about the first letter, on closer inspection, I can see that it has snapped off, judging by the break marks, I must have snapped a long time ago.

    This is a large item with the letters measuring about 2 cm in height, so any ideas what it would have been for??

    Or any ideas of a website that I can trawl through to try and find it?
