2nd Infantry Division - INFANTRY - U.S. Militaria Forum
thanks for your help
As Didier said, this is a patch for the U.S. 2nd Infantry Division... a unit which is still active in modern times.
The green border is just a production variant in my opinion.
US Military Indian head or 2nd division patches never had a green border.
Only fake patches do. Look on E-bay.
I'm not so sure, Chris. I've seen green bordered 2nd ID patches being sold by some pretty reputable dealers.
I am putty sure about the border.
This type of patch is referred to as the 'green back' variant. WWII-era patches have a fuzzy white back on them, commonly referred to as 'snow'. Some early patches have this green background, and these tend to be a bit more desirable.
Then again, that's if it's real.
