Default Medusa Head Greek Badge or What...Need some help

    Hello All,
this came in to my possession and I haven't got a clue.

I have been scouring just about every media and come up with nothing.

I was hoping that it was one of the Greek special units.

It measures around 1 1/4 inches high

    Any help appreciated

Hello Doug. I have never seen this badge worn by a Greek unit.
Maybe it was not made for military use rather for decorative purposes.

    Thanks for the input Stratos.
I'm not sure that it would fit in to the decorative box it just looks too military if you know what I mean and those pins are certainly for pushing in to something and then not being removed.

I guess unless something comes to light or spotted in a photo I'm never going to know

    All the best

    Hello Doug.
You are right about the pins, probably they were to be inserted to a hat or a uniform but the badge still remain unknown (at least to me..).
It would be nice to find out the use of it.

    Greetings.

    Thanks for the input Stratos.
Do you have any images of the Royalist troops who were involved in the first suppression of the communist uprising in 1944?
I just have a feeling that it could have been something that may have been worn by members of the sacred squadron or some other minor unit that was closely related to it.
    Perhaps a hat badge?

    All the best

    Hello Doug.
The badge of the sacred squadron was the same as the war cross 1916-17 so not what you are looking for.
If by Royalist you mean ΕΔΕΣ take a look of this badge which is handmade (i think there was not a standard badge)
The last picture is from a greek model company and shows badges during ''civil'' war worn as epullates.
Still no picture of a medusa head
I hope some Greek member with more knowledge will know something about the badge (if and when it actually existed!)

    Best regards.

    That's some good research Stratos,
    thank you for the post.
My Greek is sadly lacking and I'm stuck to researching in the English language.
I do hope that some of our other members can shed some light.

    All the best
    Doug
