Is that a genuine arm badge in the top photo of post no. 6?
I regret bitterly not buying a couple of caps a few years back - 17th/21st officer's Full Dress & Service Dress caps, complete with insignia -just too modern I thought - but I should've got them.

Dave that double pin motto you have there is the classic white metal berret motto that most of us used and polished to death
i was even put on a charge in about 79 becouse i had polished the lettering to the point you could not read it
i was finned £5.00
cheers ian

Re: "The Motto": 17th/21st Lancers cap badge
Gaylor does'nt list the 17th Lancers as being one of the WWI brass economy badge'd units, Kipling & King stae that a bronzed version was issued (Vol 1 P208) but don't show an illustration of it.
Would a heavily polished motto translate as one given an enthusiastic rub down with fine emery cloth by the way?

Re: "The Motto": 17th/21st Lancers cap badge
Hi Ian,
I got this one in the late seventies i liked to get a motto or badge
from most units we were with, i was lucky the Ligt Infantry used
stay bright badges so it was easier. I came out in 82, .
