Hi,
nice pieces not sure of the shield but it does resemble one of the london Regt, the medal ribbon it of the Africa star with the eigth army clasp. Thanks for showing them.
Dave.
Thanks for the info on the ribbon as did not know that, i think the patches are crusader patches of the 8th army
Shield is for the 8th Army.

Hello-the Desert Star ribbon is 'upside down'-the thin dark blue stripe should be on the left looking at it-do you have the other medals/ribbons (there would be several others as a minimum if he had the DS).
Very nice 8th army formation shield patches and Africa Star ribbon with the 8th army bar. The 8th army shields are interesting, as I have a few and all are different to yours and to each other. The variety of these is seemingly endless, as I have seen many other different versions.
Regards,
Jerry
Whatever its just an opinion.
Definitely the formation sign of Eighth Army. As I mentioned in another post recently, it was also used by British Troops in Austria, the occupation force there, that was formed from Eighth Army in 1945.
Rob
