No, Z Special were worn on the sleeve

The only reference I have re the Special Forces Parachutist badge is on page 67 photo's 67a and the one I posted 67b of Cossums Cloth Insignia guide. I am eager to see what your referring to Grant as I would love to learn from this.

Both Z and M special units did not have or wear any identifying insignia... If they were members of the AIF they could wear a miniature patch of their old unit on the head of the sleeve of their service dress If they had served overseas with that unit prior to joining Z or M... Then If they passed parachute training they were then allowed to wear the wings of the 1st Australian parachute battalion on their sleeve to signify this (Z did not have their own special wings) ...But once the soldier had taken part in an operational parachute jump the wings would then be worn on the left breast to signify this (like Dave has just shown) This applied for all parachute trained troops in the Australian Army during WW2.

There was a lot of Naval personnel serving within the two units as well... They also wore no Identifying insignia.
