I should have added this in the first post,
Post 1942 AIC collar dog. This simplified version superseded the enamelled insignia in my first post. Like all previous AIC insignia I believe these were only worn Instructors of Warrant Officer 2 rank and up.

No maker marks and it's had a good clean but it's a good one.

    Later all

More colour patches, that's the way Rene.
Grab that top notch Glyde of yours mate and give them a label if you could.
I went chasing a copy of that one Rene. No luck. I even rang his home. He lives in Hobart so I discovered and I'm not the only one chasing his book.
I think it would be great if we could label the colour patches we post again for easy reference in the future.
    Thanks fella's

This is a great thread gents! I bought a bag of colour patches several years ago because I wanted the 2/4th Machine gun and the 2/4th infantry patches, the bag contained neither, as i expected, but I did score a heap of other colour patches! I'll have a look around for it in the next few days, It'll be here somewhere, and I'll post the patches.

I was always under the impression tht the non enamelled AIC badges were worn by OR's Sgt and below.

I have maybe 300 or so different WW2 colour patches I will take some pics if you like, unfortunately I don't have Glydes book any more either so I will just have to go by memory LOL ...I hope they do a reprint one day.

That would be great Dave, cheers mate
The more colour patches the better that's for sure.
What was it ? 1500 plus different types over the coarse of WW2. No wonder it became so confusing in the end.

    Cheers mate.
