As always ~ very nice ~ but this must be such an addictive and almost never ending hobby ?

Anyone got any thing from the Aust 2/33 Batt ?

This is the current camp site I have been working ~ and where I found the 'immaculate" Type 32 Mills hand grenade ~

Anticipating the Army turning up this morning so I can show them where the grenade is ~ Oh bugger ~ the GPS reading did register on this one ~

Maybe I can convince them to disarm it ad hand it over ~

NOT holding my breath on that one ~ LOL

Thanks Mick. Thats what I was chasing mate an image of 39th insignia variations. The image of the collar on the bottom left appears voided/semi voided would that be correct?

How poinent was this motto in relation to the 39th in 1942.
I admire what Honner said in relation to these blokes,

Here are two pieces of cloth insignia. The first patch I have Id'd as the 1st Army Tank Bn, The second is the 5th Independant Cavalry Squadron. Thanks for looking, please make corrections to my Id's if needed. Best Jack

The double diamond patch is for the 2/5th Commando Squadron (assuming its a black patch - looks black to me).

The 2/5th Commando Squadron was one of twelve independent companies and or commando squadrons of the Australian Army formed for service during World War II. Initially formed in 1942 as the 2/5th Independent Company, the 2/5th served in New Guinea, taking part in a major commando raid on Salamaua in June 1942. It was later withdrawn from New Guinea and reformed as the 2/5th Cavalry (Commando) Squadron, as part of the 2/7th Cavalry (Commando) Regiment which saw service in Borneo in 1945. It was disbanded in early 1946.

Yes it is black, it just looks dark blue in the picture.
