    I've got 10 years on you son.............

    This looks like U.S. distinctive insignia, or 'DI', by the size.
    Possibly as you've suggested - Artillery.

    Your emblem is the US Army unit of the 69th Anti Aircraft Artillery , sorry not bombardment unit .
