Royal Artillery gunners cast arm badge

hi, please see the attached photos of a pair of cast gunners arm badges. Normally these are stamped brass. Were the cast variety locally made overseas? (the person concerned originally joined the Middlesex Regt. presumably in one of the light AA units but was then transferred to the marine RA on DEMS so these could have been issued to him whilst overseas). They are genuine. Any thoughts?
