    Default RTR / RAC insignia

As I have been showing a few RAC/RTR related items recently, here are some further items of insignia, all dating from WW2. Other threads can be seen here:

Group of Insignia to a Desert Rat of the 4th Armoured Brigade

British Royal Armoured Corps BD Blouse

    https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/cloth...ck-beret-3892/

Royal Armoured Corps slip on shoulder title worn on the BD blouse or the tankers overalls. Introduced in 1940.

RAC cap badge introduced in 1939. This was worn mainly by units in training at the depot.

RAC sweetheart made of fashionable plastic. This material was not then considered cheap or nasty like we may look upon it today.

RTR cap badge and an RTR sweetheart tie pin

    Cheers, Ade.

Not insignia this time but a book, entitled "Frolics in the Thirty First" .

The cover shows the Divisional insignia of the famous 79th Armoured Division and the diablo insignia of the 31st Tank Brigade.

The book consists of cartoons and verses about the men of the unit. The detail in the drawings is really good.

    Cheers, Ade.

Ade, the RAC badge on white plastic backing - could the backing actually be the white ivorine lozenge worn as badge backing by RAC OCTU personnel?

Hi Leigh, it is about a collar dog sized badge. Certainly smaller than a cap badge. It is set in the plastic or is even part of it, ie not metal. I will have to check, but I think the reverse is plain? Not looked at it for a while. The backing is actually the pale green shade as seen in the pic, not just a bad photo

    Cheers, Ade.
