"Small" Silver ARP badge

Article about: Hi guys, i picked up this small ARP badge recently, its not something i have come across before. It is silver, but tiny. Any ideas on why the difference? economy maybe? many thanks Ed Pictur

    Have seen quite a few of these. In a book I have concerning Home Front collectibles, they state that smaller versions of the ARP badge were made for wear with civilian clothing, so that a member of the ARP could be identified when off-duty.
    The same was true for a lot of the civilian services, I believe. My great grandmother was in the ATS, and among all of her stuff from that time is a tiny ATS badge with a pin back, just like this one.
