    I don't think it was "awarded" as such. It looks as if it is insignia of some sorts, and not an award.
    Possibly field artillery because of the wheel.

    Crossed cannons are a common insignia to denote artillery on uniforms in many countries.

    But I have never seen this one before.

    Possibly Austro Hungarian, there is a similar badge with the cannons and "gear" wheel on this page. Austro-Hungarian Army - Qualification Badges

    Being sold as US artillery but I too have never seen this design. I'm thinking European somewhere. Could be pre-WW1.

    It could possibly be WW2 era Belgium motorised Arty.
