Thought I would share some more bullion rating badges that I pick up last year.
I would put these two in the ww1-early 1920's era

    Thanks Phil for the comments.
I just happen to find a 50+ year collector who was ready to sell off part of thier collection. I also pick up some other and seldom seen sea services like U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey, U.S. Revenue Service, U.S. Shipping Service.
I will do a page on these.

Hello, thanks for a most interesting thread. Im still a little confused about how you tell pre 1948 non Seaman ranks badges from post 1948 non seaman badges. Can you help me with this and therefore date these badges in my collection? Many thanks, Douglas

Having read it again it seems that they are left facing and non seaman and therefore post 1948, is that so? The blue uniform has a ruptured duck patch- were these not only issued at the end of the war? Help is appreciated.

1905-1913 Style Rating Badges In White
These rate had a slightly different eagle. Take notice that the tail feathers are more straight down than to the right side. Eagle still leans a little to our right.
These white rates were use in 1905-1913 with the red chevrons. Some think they were use a little later in the one fleet either Atlantic or Pacific fleet. Don't recall.

    Chief example:

    First Class Example:
    Attachment 267257

    Second Class Example:
    Yeoman
    Attachment 267258

    Third Class Example
    Master-At-Arms
    Attachment 267259

The MO Machinist's cpo looks ww2 but was worn until 1948. The two Pharmacist's rate uniforms look ww2 also and were worn until 1948. In 1948 the pharmacist mark was changed. In 1948 all rating badges were worn on the left sleeve and the eagle faces to the wearer front. Pre ww2 all the eagles heads face to our right, there left. In ww2 there were a few rating badges that were worn on the right sleeve like they were prior. Those eagle still face to the wearer left of our right and the left arm rates now face the oppisite direction so they face to the wearer front. I think I mention the rating badges that were worn on the right sleeve earlier in this thread. Then like I mention above in 1948 all rates were worn on the left arm and all face the same direction, which would be to the wearer front.
I hope I am not confusing you more.

    Jason
