    Default USMC insignia

    Gday all,
I was hoping someone could give me an indication with regards to what era this USMC insignia was manufactured.
    It lacks any makers marks.

I believe the pre WW2 examples have both lines of latitude and longitude on the globe as opposed to only latitude marks.
So I guess this one is either WW2 or a post war example but not sure.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    All the best

The fouled anchor(Rope) did come into being on the EGA until the 50's.

"Another major change to enlisted emblems was in 1955. All new emblems were required to conform to a new and official Marine Corps Seal, approved by President Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1954. This change added the fouled anchor to the collar devices for enlisted wear. Officer's collar devices did not add the fouled anchor until 1962. Service insignia were made in a brownish finish to match leather items on uniforms."

Is it a cap badge or a collar badge ?

How big is it? The Barracks cover(hat) emblem will be larger than the collar device.
    So size will tell.

    That is what I thought.
What you have is a cap badge for the 1902 model Marine Dress blue cap.
The cap badges have always had a fouled anchor.

The Barracks & Blue's and Campaign cover did have the rope. I stand corrected.
So would this be an enlisted man's due to the bronze color?
