Yes you have diplayed correctly and n it is not WW2 the USAF did not come about till 1947 till then it was The US Army Air Corps

I don't recall off hand (been several yrs) but is the Air force the same in ratings as the Army?

Until late 1947 it was known as the USAAC - US Army Air Corps.
When it then became a separate branch, the USAF - US Air Force.

This kind of insignia did not see widespread useage until sometime in the 50's,
however, this would be considered a fairly common and "modern" patch.....
