That's a nice one Jerry. Saw a Middlesex Regt one on a local site, but it appears to have a crack through. Seller's pics.

That is one of the problems with the plastics, that and warping, which is why I was willing to pay dealer price for the SWB example as it is in such good condition and I have seen them going for a tenner more than I payed on some other sites.

Your badge is in a very good condition. Was told the warped ones could be straightened if first placed in hot water for a while?
Look, the badge I showed is going for 7 quid so not too bad considering. I'll see if I can't get it.

Not heard this, have you tried and had this happen?

I know with the RMA badge I posted that it says on it that it can be bent after heating in warm water, so when they were new it was in theory possible, but I would be unwilling to try this on a 70 year old badge.

Certainly not going to try it with the RMA badge, bearing in mind its rarity and value even though it is the only one I have that is bent!

Yes I've had it happen to one in hot water, it went very very pale brown, with a white residue to the surface.
After lots and lots of (dry) brushing with a stiff brush most of it came off but was still a pale brown.
