501 battaglione mitraglieri

Hello all. I've purchased the medallion below. It refered to 501 battaglione mitraglieri that served in the Greek island of Leros. Although I have researched about this battalion, I've come up with nothing. Has anyone have any info on this battalion?

Minted in 1936.
The 501st machine-gunners battalion was built in 1935 with personnel from the 90th Infantry Regiment Salerno (in connection with the strengthening of the Italian garrisons in the Mediterranean during the war of Ethiopia) and was sent to the Aegean with the 34th Infantry Regiment Livorno from September 3, 1935 to September 14, 1936
