Love the bayo. These always elude me or are too expensive. It should clean up nicely

    What is the award?
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

My greatest fear is that one day I will die and my wife will sell my guns for what I told her I paid for them

The bayo is the one for the PAI MAB 38A smg. Very rare, perhaps only 2000 made.

But if it has the "goldish" bronze finish on it it was made for the Egyptian Army after the war!
The good pre 945 made for REI and PAI are indeed rare as the white flies!
Cant see it by those pics, but it looks it had some of this finish on it!
Show us some better pics please Rich!

    Btw nice finds as always!

From this photo this bayo looks like the ones produced only on 1938-1939 for the PAI. They were then forsaken.

The REI accepted the MAB 38A only on 1941 and never had bayos like this.

The medal reads "Foreign Italian Schools". It was a civilian award, given to teachers that worked abroad for a while. Being on the verso the writing "imperatore" (referred to the king V.E. III), she has been made between 1936 and 1943.

I tought of egyptian ones because of the handle and guard finish, from my screen, or maybe its just the picture, it seems to me it had a "goldish" finish on it, maybe stripped off!
Always good to learn something, but since theres a bit of mess about those MAB bayos , whats the difference between this one and the egyptian ones?
Colour of handle and guard aside, same round button to take off, and T shape switch!
Ive noticed that the egyptian ones had the blade edge turn upside, its the same with all of them?
Its good to chat about it!

All steel: Italian PAI 1938 or 1939,
bronze handle and guard: post war Egyptian.
    This is the only difference.

This is a bronze Egyptian bayo: I think that it's difficult to confuse it with a steel one
