    Hello all. I'm wondering if anyone has any info about the black woolen hat that sailors of Regia Marina used to wear especially on decks, works etc. I would like to know the official italian name of it, if anyone has any up for sale..

    Hi, Nick
    in the your photos you can see three types of caps:
    " Basco " (round one)
    " Bustina " (the one without visor)
    " Berretto da ponte " for Officers (one with visor and rank)

    however, the color is not black but very dark blue.
    The sailors who appear in the photos would seem the Navy commandos maybe a divers unit, captured by the Germans after the armistice of september 8-1943, but I'm not sure.

    Hi Nick; are the first 3 photos taken somewhere in Greece? It seems as Roberto stated that the Italians sailors are kept by Germans.
