The stencilled insignia appears to be for a cavalry unit, so I would assume it could have belonged to a member of a tank or possibly recon regiment.

I love the look of these m33's . ESP. With the nice stencil. One of the only axis helmets I don't have in the collection!

I don't know if the fact that yours is on a re-painted makes any difference.
