Was cutting across town yesterday and I thought this might interest some folks.
The photo is of Via Rasella at Via del Boccaccio.
The pock marks in the building are from the explosion (and gun fire) where on the 23rd of March 1944 in Roma, the GAP (communist partisans) attacked a SS police unit precipitating the Ardentine Massacre.
The city has steadfastly refused to let the owners of the building repair the pock marks (all the other buildings in the intersection have been cleared over time. History is everywhere.
