Looks like a regulation Japanense Army sword ,produced dureing WW2, I believe some actually came with leather scaberds,
sword makers name may be on upper tang,they were made to breakdown,replacement value would be well over a thousand if made today, currant sale value today in my opinion would be about $600.I think the US Navy dumped thousands of these swords someware near San Francisco bay.

Pammy it might be a repro , but i sure would like to go shopping with you, youve picked up some incredible finds over the past few months, so although you might have got a bit burned on this one, your other hits far outway this hiccup, cheers dave

your sword is a originial,most likely made after 1943, I have had many Japanese swords,their is nothing fake about it.
Your model were churned out fast,not for quality,but to arm soldiers. Nothing wrong with disagreements,thats what makes the world go around.
