    Default Bomber and Machinegun flag.

    Morning gentlemen,
    Another interesting flag to share. Since my last post, I have really taken to the flags with artwork on them, so when this came up, I just had to add it to the collection. This example has a fantastic sketch of a MG team and a bomber flying through the clouds.

    From my preliminary research the flag does not have any visible recipient but it does look to have the location and person who gave the flag, plus many signatures and a few of the usual slogans.

    大野町 = Ōno Town, (Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture)
    富秋村 = Tomiaki Village
    組合管理者井深常治郎= Association/union manager Tsunejirō Ibuka
    豊木 村 = Toyoki Village

    The flag also came with a senninbari that looks to have the name of the former owner and the name of a shrine that I can't quite make out. Maybe 百済寺 - Hyakusai-ji Temple.

    No idea if the flag and senninbari belong together but I bought them together so maybe hey do?

    I hope you enjoy looking at them.

    Matt.

    Right! Mr. Ibuka was the superintendent for those three towns. Above that I think he wrote:
    祈武運長久
    Ki Bu'un Chōkyū
    Prayers For Eternal Luck in the Fortunes of War

    At the 7:00 o'clock position, the large 2 kanji are:
    大義
    Taigi
    Great cause; moral law; justice

    Haha.. Thanks Guy. I thought I was on the right track, but just not exactly there.
    I was having a closer look at the senninbari today and think I can make out the surname as 山本 Yamamoto.

    Thanks for your assistance and input.

    Regards,
    Matt

    Hey Matt-
    I am partial to art flags myself, so thanks for posting. I really like the depiction of the gun crew- very cool!
