Geoff, not certain other than navy related in some way or another. I've never seen another like it.
Nicks response makes sense to me. I can see how terminology can snowball into giving items a life of their own as with the Type 3/Naval Landing Forces sword discussions. I have seen other variation Civil style helmets with what appear to be "Naval associated" type of emblems but as far as what capacity they served I cannot say with certainty.Regards,Geoff

I have no idea about what kind it is or what stage of the war it was produced.
By the liner, I would guess later in the war?
