    Default Help On Translation Of Crate Lid

    I would greatly appreciate any help or opinions on the translation of this crate lid. I know it says "volatile oil" & "flammable". What I'd like to know is what type of oil & any guess for what oil was used in. Thanks in advance!

    Ordinary volatile oil. When I checked the dictionary, it gave the definiton as "gasoline, petrol; petroleum" and another dictionary said naphtha. However, when you look at what IJN ships carried, it definitely is NOT "avgas" or other fuels.

    Perhaps Nick can sort this out for us?

    Additionally, modern classifications in Japanese of gas/oil/flammability etc. have categories such as "No.3"; and lists flammabilities (eg. No.2, ... but I do not know if the current definition is applicable to WWII.

    ==============
    When I checked "ordinary volitile oil" in the electronic dictionaries, I get varying results for "gasoline, petroleum, petrol, .... and naphtha. But when I check what was carried on ships, it is apparently NOT aviation fuel or gasoline.

    また3隻の駆逐艦も合計でゴム・錫140トンが搭載されています。
