Hinomaru Authenticity?

Just wondering if anyone could give their opinion on the authenticity of this? I am in a sticky position whereby I would really like a Hinomaru flag but I simply do not have the knowledge to buy one with confidence - I am that guy that is just waiting to be scammed!

From what I can see the flag looks to be authentic. If you go to this link you will find some of the large kanji slogans. The balance of the smaller ones will be names of well wishers and perhaps the recipient.

Assuming the flag is undamaged and with both corner ties present it would probably come in around the 200 USD mark without the frame.

Further to my last ... if you develop a real interest in yosegaki hinomaru (Good Luck flags) you might be interested to know that Dr. Mike Bortner has written an excellent book on them that can be purchased through his web site. Anyone having a look through his book will have a hard time putting it back down. Lots of great illustrations and more information that you will be able to remember. It goes into senninbari too as they were a companion piece to the Good Luck flags.

Yosegaki. 寄せ書き; 寄書き 【よせがき】 (n,vs) (1) write jointly; (2) collection of autographs


Parse:
a. Yose. 寄せ 【よせ】 (n) (1) last moves (in go, shogi, or chess); endgame; (n-suf) (2) gathering; collecting; coming together;

b. Kaki. 書き 【がき】 (n) drawing or writing [verb form is 書く kaku]

In a kanji-compound word all (oops ... "most") second components beginning with hard consonants (e.g. kaki) soften. Thus, "kaki" when alone changes to ~gaki (yosegaki) as the second-part of a kanji-compound.
